Here are 64 drama cards containing a wide variety of serious, funny and unusual weapons to use in improv games or with a murder mystery activity.
In today’s day and age, students often have a hard time using their imaginations and can resort to falling back on what is obvious. This set of cards allows teachers the flexibility to decide what kind of ‘weapons’ they want to include in a drama activity.
If students are creating an improvised scene in which one character dies, and the weapon is a gun, the scene can easily be a representation of something that the students witnessed on television or in a movie or video game. However, if the weapon of choice is a marshmallow, the students must imagine creative ways to murder someone with a small fluffy object.
As with any drama activity, teachers will need to use their own discretion when deciding to introduce activities that involve a death or murder. However, when presented appropriately, students will respond with a great deal of enthusiasm to this type of lesson! Further, our world and media in general are filled with images of death and theatre offers a safe environment for students to explore these themes with humor and/or contemplation.
Detailed instructions for leading this activity are in the Murder Mystery Drama Lesson.
